Update: I have decided to leave the 2D Art section of my portfolio up to showcase my versatility as a lot of personal hours were put into creating all of that art. I understand that most of it was from the past and serve as learning experiences, however it is better to have them to show for my 2D skills than to not have it when I need to show what I've done. I will keep my Artstation portfolio as the exclusive representation of my low-poly 3D, hand-painted style.
Recently I have been making some changes to my site and how I present my portfolio. From now on, I would like to focus on the 3D side of my art, specifically low-poly modeling and hand-painted textures, with the occasional personal concept art thrown in for times when I am away from my workstation and prefer to use my sketchbook instead. Less is more also, so I will only show the best work I have from now on. After spending several years learning a bit of other 2D art styles using Photoshop and Illustrator, I have decided that I simply do not have the time to manage doing all of those different things, especially when there is no shortage of artists, designers or specialists who focus strictly on those and earn a better living that way. I do not wish to be judged by my weakest work anyways, even though what I really wanted to show was my artistic versatility. I have no doubt that I am a very capable artist who can do anything if I set my mind to it, but for now I would like to master one thing at a time. It is time for me to develop my niche style and find out how I may express my own unique creative contribution to the world. Instead of chasing futile methods, over-analyzing endless information online, simply studying other artists' works, or falling into other time-traps, I will dedicate my time and energy on my own artwork, no matter what people say and regardless of arbitrarily-imposed expectations that further delay what I really want to do. Hopefully I will get to a certain level soon where enough people will begin to notice, appreciate and support me for the kind of work that I do and things will get better.
